A good Samaritan was struck in the face with a baseball bat while attempting to break up a fight on a Bronx street, resulting in severe head fractures, police and sources reported.
The concerned 31-year-old victim stepped in when he noticed two men fighting around 1 a.m. Friday on East 175th Street near Walton Avenue in Morris Heights, authorities and sources indicated.
But the violence quickly turned towards him, with one of the men pulling out a baseball bat and whacking the do-gooder multiple times, police said.

The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition with severe fractures to his face and head.
The bat-wielding man fled the scene and has not been caught, authorities said.
The NYPD released photos and videos of the attacker inside a barbershop about two blocks away, on Jerome Avenue near East 175th Street.
He was last seen carrying a black backpack, and wearing a gray shirt, tan pants, a black baseball cap and black sneakers.
