GILMAN, Ill. (WCIA) — Robert Sinn and Cindy Guttendorf of the Gilman Old Boys & Girls Reunion Association joined WCIA’s Mitchell Rife to discuss their upcoming reunion.

This will be the association’s first reunion in 10 years, as the previous one was canceled due to COVID. Typically, the reunion occurs every five years.

This particular reunion is among the longest-running in the state, originating in 1886 when the boys at Gilman High School decided to gather post-graduation to maintain their connections.

A parade for this year’s reunion is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, and there are currently over 100 entries. The parade will traverse much of the City of Gilman and is one of the main highlights. The day is packed with activities, including children’s events like golf cart scavenger hunts, various talks, and fireworks for families to enjoy.

The four-day reunion is set to occur from Aug. 7-10, with the Grand Parade on Saturday and a church service concluding the celebration on Sunday. For more details on this year’s festivities, visit the reunion association’s website.
