Sha'Carri Richardson arrested in Seattle for alleged domestic violence

Sha’Carri Richardson Allegedly Involved in Domestic Incident in Seattle

The alleged assault happened inside the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

SEATTLE — Sha’Carri Richardson, an Olympic gold medalist hailing from Dallas, was arrested on Sunday afternoon at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. She is accused of assaulting her boyfriend, fellow Olympian Christian Coleman, during a tense disagreement, according to official records.

The Port of Seattle Police Department’s report states that security cameras recorded an argument between Richardson and Coleman as they were leaving the security checkpoint on July 27.

The report outlines that once they exited the security area, Richardson pursued Coleman as he seemed to be trying to leave. At one juncture, Richardson allegedly pushed Coleman into a column. Despite his attempts to walk away, she allegedly continued to collide with him and pushed him once more with sufficient force to send him several feet away.

The report adds that after the second shove, Coleman sought assistance by returning to the security zone, yet Richardson continued to follow him, even throwing a pair of headphones that struck him.

With the aid of security footage, officers determined there was enough evidence to warrant Richardson’s arrest on a charge of domestic violence assault.

Although police reports indicate Coleman was unwilling to engage with the investigation and “declined to be a victim,” Richardson was detained at the South Correctional Entity Jail and remained there until her release on Monday afternoon.

Just last year, Richardson competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning a gold medal in the 4x100m relay and claiming silver in the 100m sprint.
