MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) — A third camper who was aboard a sailboat that was struck by a barge in Biscayne Bay died Sunday, officials said.

NBC affiliate WTVJ reported that the U.S. Coast Guard verified the 10-year-old girl had passed away at Jackson Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side.

Former Bal Harbour Mayor Gabriel Groisman confirmed the death of his cousin, 10-year-old Arielle Buchman, in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

This incident represents the third fatality from a collision that involved six individuals: five girls and a 19-year-old, who were on a sailboat when it collided with a barge near Miami.

Two additional victims, Erin Victoria Ko, aged 13, and Mila Yankelevich, aged 7, the granddaughter of Argentine TV producers, were also killed in the boat crash.

They were in the final week of a sailing camp held for children ages 7 to 15.

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office told reporters that the cause of both girls’ deaths was determined to be accidental drowning.

According to WTVJ, another 8-year-old girl was hospitalized in critical condition, but her current status is unknown.

The 19-year-old woman and a 12-year-old were also rescued but were uninjured.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
