Parents of Andrew McGann’s students at schools in Oklahoma and Texas say the 28-year-old suspect was a “sick pervert” and his “behavior was unusual.”
There were girls McGann would “tickle” at Donald Elementary School in Flower Mound, Texas. McGann would invite select girls to have lunch in his classroom while other students ate in the cafeteria.
One student states McGann told her “he wished she could be his girlfriend.” Parents reported McGann’s behavior to Lewisville ISD and Donald Elementary staff. However, “everything got swept under the rug.”
Parental complaints resulted in McGann being placed on administrative leave prior to his resignation. Parent Lindsay Polyak indicates that if McGann had been terminated rather than allowed to resign, the termination would have appeared on his record and might have alerted other school districts.
Nevertheless, since he was permitted to resign, he was subsequently employed by at least two other school districts and was preparing to begin the new school year in Arkansas.
McGann instructed at Sand Springs until May of this year. Former student Shaelynn Brown mentions that the black backpack depicted in a picture was the same one McGann used while teaching at Sand Springs.
McGann commenced teaching in the 2022-2023 school year at Donald Elementary School in the Lewisville, Texas, Independent School District. The following school year, 23-24, he taught at Spring Creek Elementary with Broken Arrow Public Schools, and then for the last school year, fall 24 to spring 25, he taught 5th grade at Spring Creek Elementary in the Sand Springs school district.
For the upcoming school year, he moved schools again, this time to Arkansas, where he was preparing to begin his school year.
