The individual accused of a brutal double homicide at Devil’s Den State Park in Arkansas had successfully completed background screenings in various school districts across the country.

Andrew James McGann, 28, is facing charges for two counts of capital murder concerning the deaths of Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41. Their bodies were discovered on a hiking trail at Devil’s Den on July 26.

He held teaching positions in four school districts across three states in recent years — in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

As the academic year approaches, Daly urged parents to inquire about their school district’s hiring procedures and the rigor of their background checks.

“I believe it’s prudent for parents to pose these questions, alongside numerous other inquiries, about what occurs within the schools and the safety measures in place for the children they send there,” he stated.

Regarding school management, Daly recommended that education leaders critically evaluate their hiring methods in light of the accusations against McGann.

“It’s essential for administrators to conduct a more thorough review of their background check practices, asking more profound questions, especially considering this particular case.”
