Ex-Georgia Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan flips to Democrats

() Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan has switched from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party.

Duncan officially announced he had moved to the other side of the aisle Tuesday and joined “On Balance” to explain his decision and why he thinks he will be welcomed.

“Donald Trump is that bad, but he’s in charge … Democrats are going through a shift, at least the ones I’m talking to, the ones that are trying to find a way to live outside the extremes. Republicans are camped out in the extreme on the right,” Duncan said.

“My gravitational pull to the Democratic Party is it gives me a better chance to be creative. The Democrats have to be the party of ideas. They need to solve real people’s problems.”

Duncan noted the Make America Great Again Movement was not for him, believing Democrats “have an unbelievable opportunity to step up to the plate and meet Donald Trump right where he deserves to be, and that’s in the losers’ lane.”

The former lieutenant governor revealed he is “thinking about” running for the governorship of Georgia and was surprised by “the overwhelming support” he has received from colleagues on both sides of the aisle.

“I just think this puts me in the best possible position to love my neighbor … the Republican ship has sailed. Donald Trump has sucked the life and soul out of the out of the Republican Party,” he added.
