During a White House press event about Apple’s new US manufacturing initiatives, CEO Tim Cook gave President Donald Trump a gift: a “unique” item made of glass from Corning, the iPhone glass manufacturer, mounted on a 24-karat gold base.

The glass piece is a large disc featuring the Apple logo cut into it. Printed on the top is President Trump’s name, and on the bottom is a signature that appears to be Cook’s, along with the words “Made in USA” and the year 2025. According to Cook, a “former US Marine Corps corporal” who now works at Apple designed the glass. The gold base originates from Utah.

Cook is renowned for his skill in establishing a rapport with President Trump. After Trump was re-elected for a second term, other CEOs reportedly sought to emulate Cook’s talent for relationship-building. Trump has cautioned Apple and other smartphone manufacturers against tariffs unless they relocate manufacturing to the US.
