WASHINGTON () An aide to U.S. Vice President JD Vance has shut down a CNN story that reported he had plans to host a dinner and discuss a strategy on releasing information in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.

“The CNN story is pure fiction. There was never a supposed meeting scheduled at the vice president’s residence to discuss Epstein Strategy,” William Martin, Vance’s communication director, told .

The story by CNN said their sources told them the vice president would host a dinner at his home Wednesday with White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel. They were reportedly going to talk about releasing audio and a transcript of Blanche’s July 24 conversation with Epstein’s accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell.

This comes as the House Oversight Committee recently voted to subpoena several people in relation to the Epstein files, including former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. President Donald Trump was also named, but he has maintained that he never visited Epstein’s island.

Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for her role in helping the disgraced financier sexually abuse underage girls. She is appealing her sentence.
