16 in custody after immigration raid at LA Home Depot, DHS says

On Wednesday morning, authorities from the Department of Homeland Security apprehended 16 individuals during immigration raids at a Los Angeles Home Depot, an area reportedly influenced by the infamous MS-13 gang, as per federal officials.

The operation took place around 7 a.m. in Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park area. Migrants began fleeing the parking lot when DHS officials arrived from the rear of Penske trucks, as captured by scene footage.

DHS informed Fox News that the violent MS-13 gang maintains a stronghold in the area, prompting the visually prominent immigration raid at this site.

No further details about the 16 detained individuals were immediately provided.

Protesters also showed up in the area last month, with reports of a tire on a federal vehicle being slashed and objects thrown at vehicles.

Back in June, there were days of protest and clashes with authorities due to anger over immigration raids in the region. President Donald Trump called in the National Guard and had Marines sent to the city, a move that received strong criticism from local and state leaders, including California Governor Gavin Newsom.
