The House Oversight Committee has been grilling Biden team members about his cognitive decline and the autopen scandal.
We’ve discussed some of the witnesses, such as former White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Senior Advisor to Jill Biden Anthony Bernal, and Biden Deputy Chief of Staff Annie Tomasini, all of whom invoked the Fifth Amendment.
Following O’Connor’s refusal to testify, Committee Chair James Comer stated it only intensified the suspicion of a “cover-up.” Others, including Senior Advisor Neera Tanden and former Chief of Staff Ron Klain, were more cooperative.
But the grilling of Biden’s “Politburo” is exposing information from the ridiculous to the important. First, let’s start with the ridiculous.
This week, Bruce Reed’s statement during his closed-door interview included an unexpected excuse for Biden’s subpar debate performance.
“Mr. Reed claimed in his transcribed interview that Joe Biden’s debate performance was due to his stutter,” a source close to Reed’s testimony informed The Post.
Is Reed aware we all watched that debate? It clearly wasn’t a stutter. Resorting to such far-fetched explanations shows that the Biden administration might actually be out of plausible defenses.
Reed defended Biden’s cognitive ability.
“When questioned about whether Americans’ doubts concerning Joe Biden’s mental sharpness were valid, Mr. Reed replied that he believes Americans should have had no worries about the President’s cognitive abilities.”
Too late. We already know.
He also provided a problematic take from Dr. O’Connor, according to a source.
“Mr. Reed further explained that President Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, dismissed as ‘meaningless.”
That explains a lot.
Reed also blew off answering any questions from reporters in the hallway.

Reed is the ninth ex-Biden aide to come before the Committee. But Committee member Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) revealed more would likely be coming on the autopen scandal. Biggs has been sitting in on some of the interviews.
Biggs said that it was very likely that Biden had no idea who was using the autopen much of the time.
“What else is going to happen is you’re going to find that Joe Biden didn’t know who all was running the autopen,” he said. “I think you’re going to find out that people were doing some things with the autopen that they absolutely had no authority to do.”
Biggs said he thought that there might be criminal culpability.
He also thought the 25th Amendment should be revamped, “Because the way it is now, it incentivizes Cabinet members to protect and hide a debilitated president.”
