A COP is receiving major backlash after joking about writing everyone a ticket.
A Texas deputy, Jennifer Escalera from the Harris County Constable Precinct 5, is addressing backlash over a humorous remark she posted on TikTok.
In a viral clip, Escalera, seated in her patrol car, joked that she intended to issue tickets to every person she stopped because she hadn’t been intimate the previous night.
“Didn’t get cracked last night, so everyone is getting a ticket,” she said in the video.
Despite her threat, Escalera reportedly didn’t give anyone a ticket that day, TMZ reported.
A spokesperson for the constable told the outlet that the officer is under investigation, but will remain active pending the outcome of the probe.
“Our administration is aware and internal affairs has opened an investigation,” the office told Fox affiliate KRV.
“We have no other comment at this time.”
Houston residents and social media users alike don’t approve of the cop’s actions.
“I think it’s really inappropriate and disrespectful,” resident Alex Fitch told the outlet.
After the video, which has now been removed, was reshared, an Instagram user commented, “I’m sure she was joking, but it was not a smart move to share this publicly.”
“I don’t think she should be fired for it, but they should definitely tell her to stay off social media when it comes to her job.”
Other social media users criticized people for not being able to “take a joke.”
“No one can take a joke anymore,” one commenter wrote.
Another said: “Hillarious, everyone getting after a woman making a (possibly bad) joke, but actually police misconduct swept under the rug.”
One woman scolded the officer for having no “decorum.”

“People are too comfortable these days putting any and everything online,” the woman commented.
“Decorum is just out the window, I guess.”
Escalera may have deleted that video, but she kept up other videos where she references her job.
In one video, she shows her morning routine before heading off to work.
“A little [get ready with me] to go to work as a female police officer,” she captioned the video.
In the two-minute ‘Get Ready with Me’ video, she shows herself getting out of bed, applying makeup, and getting dressed.
At the end of the clip, she’s fully suited up in her uniform, ready to take on the day.
