It looks like the next generation of Rooney is already making moves.

Kai Rooney, the 15-year-old son of Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney, has been unexpectedly called up to the club’s Under-19 squad. This promotion involves skipping three age categories after he showcased brilliant performances in the SuperCup NI, formerly known as the Milk Cup.

The young forward shone for United’s Under-16 team in Northern Ireland, contributing goals and assists as the Reds remained unbeaten through the group stages. However, they fell to Southampton, losing 1-0 in the final at Coleraine Showgrounds.

Following his outstanding display, Kai has now been included in United’s U-19 squad for the esteemed Mladen Ramljak Tournament in Croatia. This event has previously featured renowned players such as Luka Modrić and Eduardo Camavinga.

The teenager seems to be relishing the experience, posting a picture on Instagram of his hotel accommodations, showcasing a pool and scenic view, with a cheeky caption: “19s tournament soon.”

United’s young guns have landed in Group A, where they’ll face academy giants Juventus, Rapid București and Dinamo Zagreb.

While Kai has a significant journey ahead to match his father’s legacy—Wayne Rooney is still Manchester United’s all-time leading scorer with 253 goals—this recent development suggests that he has both the talent and the opportunity to make a name for himself.
