Authorities in Washington state are currently searching for an individual accused of fatally shooting a man and injuring a woman inside a Tacoma hospital’s emergency room on Wednesday night.
Tacoma Police say they believe the shooter and the victims had an altercation prior to their arrival at the Allenmore Hospital, KOMO reported.
“We don’t think this incident was a random act,” stated Tacoma Officer Shelbie Boyd. “We are uncertain about the prior relationship between those involved in the events of yesterday. Were they acquainted beforehand? That’s something we don’t know yet.”
“I know that there are people out there who know who may have been involved in this, and we would ask that you contact us,” Boyd said.
As reported by KING, officials indicated that the suspect trailed the man and woman into the emergency department’s waiting area and began shooting. The man was declared dead at the scene, while the woman received medical care and was discharged afterward.
Police are reviewing hospital security footage in an attempt to identify the suspect. The hospital reopened at about 3 a.m.
The victims’ identities have not been released.
