A devastated mother has told of her anguish after her ‘beautiful’ four-year-old son ‘fell under a bus’ and died while leaving the hospital. 

Zaahir Jan, unfortunately, lost his life after being hit by a single-decker bus during a visit to see his grandmother at Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, Kent.

Police and paramedics scrambled in a desperate attempt to save the stricken youngster, rushing him back into hospital for emergency treatment. 

But despite their best efforts, little Zaahir was pronounced dead a short time later. 

His heartbroken mother, Azaria Green, has expressed her grief over the tragic loss of her son, marking the second family tragedy in just one week.

“He was my son, my most beautiful little Jan. I don’t know how to cope. I can’t believe you’re no longer with me, that they couldn’t save you. I’m in disbelief this happened,” she shared online.

‘I didn’t even get to tell you how much I love you.

‘Everyone is devastated but that word doesn’t feel like enough to explain how we are all feeling.

Zaahir Jan was visiting his grandmother at Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, Kent, when he was tragically hit by the bus.

The youngster’s heartbroken mother has since paid tribute to her ‘beautiful son’ online 

“Our sweet, funny boy with a smile that could fill anyone’s heart with joy, a smile we’ll see no more. We can’t hold him, cuddle him, or hear him. He won’t be sleeping in my bed tonight,” she lamented.

‘My baby I wish you were in my bed tonight cuddling. I love you my boy.’  

The tragedy took place at 4pm on Thursday, close to the entrance of the hospital’s A&E department. 

Ramsgate Road outside the centre was sealed off in both directions for several hours before reopening at about 6.45pm.

An air ambulance was seen landing nearby as medics battled to save the boy’s life.

Police say the four-year-old left on foot before being struck by the bus. 

The youngster’s death is the second tragedy to rock the family within days.

Azaria’s sister-in-law, Taz Green, was found dead by her teenage son on Sunday – the day before she was set to celebrate her 52nd birthday.

Today, her devastated daughter, Kyia Palmer, spoke about the surprising loss of her young relative, telling KentOnline: “It is unbelievable. He was so tiny.”

Kent Police has now launched an investigation into the tragedy and are appealing for witnesses or those with CCTV or dash cam footage to come forward. 

Breaking the news of the four-year-old’s death this morning, Kent Police said: ‘The bus, a white single decker vehicle, was travelling near the entrance to the A&E department. 

‘It is reported that the pedestrian, a four year old boy, left the hospital on foot and a collision took place.

‘The child was taken inside the hospital and a short while later was sadly confirmed deceased. His next of kin has been informed.

‘Investigators from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.’
