CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – WCIA was proud to welcome a group of educators to our station as a part of our WCIA 3 Educator Focus Group.

Over 100 applications came in from area educators. Ultimately, 10 were invited to come to the station to participate.

The session was hosted by Meteorologist Jacob Dickey and Amanda Brennan, providing an opportunity to engage more deeply with the developments in the educational sector.

The educators joining us came in with the goal of growing partnerships, creating new ideas and connecting with the other educators in the room.

Participants were able to discuss the challenges they observe in their local education systems, and also highlight the positive aspects within their communities.

The insights gathered from the group enabled us at WCIA to devise strategies for improved storytelling. We also formulated new initiatives to enhance our engagement with educators and students, along with better ways to integrate our current resources with schools and the community.

If you’re interested in being an educator insider for Jacob, you can sign up here.
