LAKE MARY, Fla. – A dashcam video obtained by News 6 from the Florida Highway Patrol captures a driver telling the trooper who pulled him over, “I thought you were racing me.”

On July 23, at approximately 2:20 a.m., documents indicate a blue Honda Civic was halted by FHP on I-4 near mile marker 98 in Lake Mary. An arrest report identifies the driver as Logan Mills, and a trooper witnessed his vehicle reaching speeds of up to 120 mph on the interstate.

The footage of the stop shows the trooper approaching the passenger side of the car after the driver comes to a stop on the shoulder, requesting the driver’s license and registration.

Soon after, the driver admits, “I’m going to be real with you. I really thought, like, this is…it’s not, uh, like, uh, an excuse or anything. I thought you were racing me.”

“Racing you? What? You passed me,” the trooper replies.

The trooper quickly moves to the driver’s side door and instructs the man to “step outside the car.” He then escorts the driver to his patrol car and places him in handcuffs.

“You’re under arrest,” the trooper says. In the video, you hear the driver troopers identified as Mills reply, “Like, for real, for real?”

After he is heard asking about his speed, the trooper says, “120. You gonna tell me that I’m lying to you now? How fast do you think you were doing?”

The driver answers back, “I thought I was doing 90.”

In the arrest report, the trooper states that 90 mph is still 25 mph over the speed limit.

Mills is now facing a charge of “dangerous excessive speed” for reportedly exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 mph. Online court records indicate he has entered a plea of not guilty.
