Mosleys seek help to continue Jacksonville food pantry mission

A Jacksonville couple has been feeding the hungry for over ten years. Now, they need assistance with their food pantry after thieves stole their A/C and their van broke down.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — For nearly 15 years, Bernard and Natasha Mosley have served their community with not just food but also love, faith, and compassion, reaching hundreds in need every week.

From a small shed located behind a church on Moncrief-Dinsmore Road, the Mosleys operate God’s Infinity Faithful and True, or GIFT, a food pantry that acts as a lifeline for families, seniors, and veterans in Jacksonville’s 32219 area.

“So originally we were on 8th and Davis behind the McDonald’s and we started outside handing out clothes and hot food,” said Natasha Mosley.

Their mission started with simple acts of kindness, and now they are feeding nearly 300 people weekly, even though they work out of a shed with no air conditioning, no permanent premises, and no personal transportation.

“We have more kids over here that desire help. We have more seniors, our veterans that desire help,” Natasha added.

Recently, their efforts faced challenges. Thieves took the shed’s window AC units, and their vehicle broke down, forcing them to rent a U-Haul for collecting donated food.

“We have been searching for a brick-and-mortar location, but the prices are so high. As for the transportation we had, it failed us,” Bernard said.

Still, the Mosleys keep going, powered by faith and community need.

“That’s what God tell us to do,” Natasha said, when asked why they continue their mission despite the setbacks.

Volunteers regularly show support, and the shed is located on a church’s property that believes in the couple’s mission. But appeals to city leaders and local companies for help have so far gone unanswered.

“If we don’t get it now, we’re not going to stop,” Bernard said. “She’ll get in her little car and pack up whatever box she needs to pack up in her car…and she’ll take it to them.”

Now, after years of answering calls for help, the Mosleys are asking for someone to answer theirs.

How You Can Help

The Mosleys are looking for a brick-and-mortar location to continue their operations and want to remain in the 32219 area. They also need reliable transportation for food pickups and are accepting cash donations.  You can email gift904@yahoo.com or call 904-568-8128 if you would like to help.
