BURKE COUNTY, Ga. () – On August 7th, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division apprehended Ahmed Sattar Ismael, a police officer with the Midville Police Department, following a domestic dispute that was reported earlier the same day.
The victim met with police to discuss the incident that happened at her home early Thursday.
The complainant stated she returned home at approximately 10:15 a.m. to collect her 12-year-old son when confronted by her husband, Ismael, who demanded the couple’s marriage certificate. This altercation reportedly arose from the wife’s recent request for a divorce.
According to the victim, Ismael’s behavior escalated when she could fine the license.
An audio recording of the altercation allegedly captured Ismael shouting profanities, issuing multiple threats to her life in the presence of their child, and wielding what appears to have been his service weapon while continuing the argument.
Investigators from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, alongside Midville Police Chief C.J. Green, approached Ismael at the Midville Police Department headquarters.
He was transported to the Burke County CID for an interview and subsequently arrested.
Ismael is currently being held at the Burke County Detention Center.
Ismael has been charged with the following offenses:
- Terroristic Threats and Acts
- Pointing or Aiming a Gun at Another
- Cruelty to Children – 3rd Degree
