The team supporting Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., denounced “horrible” antisemitic comments made by a woman accused of threatening a Brooklyn public high school with Jewish students. They also refuted claims that this individual had been employed by them.

Brooklyn’s Iman Abdul, 27, was apprehended on Friday, facing charges of making terroristic threats, endangering a child’s welfare, aggravated harassment, and threats of mass harm, as confirmed by a New York City Police Department (NYPD) spokesperson to Fox News Digital.

According to the NYPD, it was reported on Thursday afternoon that Abdul allegedly issued a terroristic threat via social media against Leon Goldstein High School for the Sciences, located in Manhattan Beach within the 61st Precinct area.

In a direct message to Stop Antisemitism, Abdul reportedly defended the post before her account was deactivated.

“I never advocated for a mass attack on the school or for individuals to harm others, that’s completely asinine,” Abdul stated, according to the Post. “I called for a stance against the school, the Zionist establishment funded by our tax dollars … we have the right to verbally challenge the school.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office seeking more information on Sunday but did not immediately hear back.

The Post was also the first to reveal Abdul’s association with Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign. The outlet reported that Abdul had been involved as a youth organizer during the “Squad” member’s Democratic primary campaign in the summer of 2018. Additionally, State Sen. Julia Salazar mentioned that Abdul was also a paid canvasser for Salazar’s campaign during the same period.

Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign office denied that Abdul was ever a campaign staffer.

“This person was never staff on the campaign and any representation of such is false,” the campaign said in a statement. “Their comments are appalling and we condemn threats of violence without hesitation.”

Reached by Fox News Digital, Abdul’s attorney, Geoffrey St. Andrew Stewart, declined to comment on the case.
