The Block host Scott Cam’s jaw-dropping salary has been revealed – and he is one of the highest paid presenters in Australia.

The Channel Nine presenter, 62, is earning ‘close to $2 million a year’, according to  Woman’s Day.

A source mentioned to the publication that Channel Nine wanted to retain Cam and his co-star Shelley Craft on their home renovation show for as long as possible.

‘As long as audiences keep watching, Scotty and Shelley are the heart of the show,’ they said.

‘It’s ultimately up to the network, but if Scott wants to stay, they will find a way to keep him.’ 

The insider added that Cam’s good-natured attitude made him a delight to work with.

‘He still feels lucky to be doing it year after year and to be part of a show audiences still love. There’s a real sense of gratitude,’ they said.

Cam has co-hosted The Block since 2010.

Season 21 of the long-running reality TV series recently premiered, and the Daylesford-filmed season looks to be one of the most gripping yet. 

The presenter’s jaw-dropping salary makes him the second highest paid presenter in Australia, trailing Today show co-host Karl Stefanovic. 

Back in May, The Australian’s first TV Rich List report stated that Nine’s Stefanovic, at 51, was earning significantly more than his Today show partner, Sarah Abo.

The report collated the 35 highest salaries among TV stars on Australia’s three commercial networks – Channel Seven, Nine and Network 10.

The report disclosed that Stefanovic leads the small screen in earnings, making an impressive $2.8 million a year, which is nearly triple what 39-year-old Abo earns.

This is in stark contrast to his Today counterpart who comes in at tenth place with a salary of $800,000.

Additionally, it was noted that Stefanovic’s salary is nearly equal to the combined salaries of the current chief executive Matt Stanton ($1.6 million) and the former chief Mike Sneesby ($1.5 million).

It appears that Nine has the deepest pockets out of the three commercial networks, with six of its stars making the top ten.

After Cam, Lego Masters star Hamish Blake sits third at around $2 million.

The top ten Nine contingent is rounded out by newsreaders Alison Langdon ($1.2 million), Peter Overton ($1 million) and Abo.

Among Seven’s highest earners, Gold Logie winner Larry Emdur ranks fourth with a salary of $1.6 million, whereas Sunrise host Natalie Barr takes fifth place with $1.3 million.

Meanwhile, Network Ten did not feature in the top ten at all, with their highest paid star Waleed Aly coming in at number 12 on $700,000.
