Antisemitic graffiti prompts hate crime probe at Israeli-American Council HQ in Los Angeles

The Los Angeles-based national headquarters of the Israeli-American Council (IAC) became a target of antisemitic graffiti over the weekend, leading to a hate crime investigation by the local authorities.

The offensive vandalism was discovered at the Shepher Community Center in Woodland Hills, where the IAC’s Los Angeles regional offices are located, serving as a focal point for local Israeli-American and American Jewish communities.

Perpetrators spray-painted swastikas, SS insignia, and the word “burn” on the sidewalk in front of the building. A cardboard snowman near the entrance was also vandalized with a swastika.

In a nearby area, next to an entrance to Highway 101, another barricade was defaced with a profanity-filled anti-Israel message related to the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, along with additional swastikas appearing in various spots.

The authorities have yet to identify a suspect, but this incident occurs amidst what advocacy organizations describe as a widespread increase in antisemitic vandalism and harassment across the nation.

“Globally and throughout our country, we are witnessing a concerning and unprecedented surge in antisemitism,” Carr stated. “We are relentlessly committed to combating this and ensuring that history does not repeat itself.”

Carr vowed that this incident would not scare them or keep them silent in standing up against hate crimes.

“This incident will not intimidate or deter us – on the contrary, it fuels our determination to stand even stronger against antisemitism and to protect and strengthen our community for generations to come,” he said.
