A New York man and his mother have been arrested after allegedly trying to flee the country, following a fatal New Jersey crash.

On June 29, Alvi Limani from Staten Island is accused of crashing into two other vehicles while driving at high speeds along New Jersey’s Garden State Parkway near mile marker 130 in the southbound lane.

The 20-year-old’s BMW X3 SUV reportedly flipped over multiple times in what police are calling a street racing incident.

The crash ended in a fatality when Limani’s passenger, Albion Hysenaj, 20, flew out of the car and died at the scene.

DailyMail reports that another passenger was also ejected, then taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital “with serious injuries.”

Another passenger, reportedly identified as 19-year-old Emily Harrington, fled the scene on foot with Limani.

As reported by NBC South Florida, both Limani and his mother, Vilma Vneshta, 42, were arrested in Miami amid accusations of planning to flee the country. Their arrest took place on July 17.

Limani is facing charges that include:

  • Aggravated manslaughter (first-degree)
  • Vehicular homicide (second-degree)
  • Knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death (second-degree)
  • Causing death while driving with a suspended license (third-degree)
  • Two counts of endangering an injured victim (third-degree)
  • Two counts of endangering (third-degree)
  • Tampering with public records (third-degree)

Vneshta has been charged with third-degree hindering.

Harrington is facing charges that include hindering (third degree), obstruction (fourth-degree), and conspiracy to endanger another (fourth-degree).

Also involved in the incident is Jeter Ogando, 23, who was allegedly racing a BMW M5. He is charged with multiple offenses including second-degree vehicular homicide, fourth-degree assault by auto, and third-degree endangerment.

Limani and Vneshta are being held in Miami on out-of-state warrants while awaiting extradition back to New Jersey.

Authorities are requesting anyone with relevant information or video evidence to reach out to the Holmdel Station Criminal Investigation Office by calling 732-441-4500, ext. 7425, or the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-3140.
