Authorities charged Fort Stewart logistics sergeant Quornelius Radford with multiple offenses in the shooting Tuesday, including domestic violence.

FORT STEWART, Ga. — According to the Associated Press on Tuesday, one of the individuals harmed in last week’s mass shooting at the Fort Stewart military base in Georgia was the alleged shooter’s romantic partner.

Military authorities identified Quornelius Radford, 28, as the suspect involved in the shooting incident. On Tuesday, he faced charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and domestic violence.

He is a logistics sergeant who has not seen combat, according to Brig. Gen. John Lubas, the commander of Fort Stewart.

Lubus mentioned that Radford received a DUI earlier in May. Documentation from the Georgia Department of Public Safety, citing Radford for DUI and not adhering to traffic signals, indicated his residence was on Village Pond Circle in Jacksonville at that time.

Radford is alleged to have brought his personal firearm onto the base for the shooting. Lubus stated that the Army is investigating how this situation transpired. Radford is currently detained by the Army Investigations Division and is being questioned.

The five soldiers who were shot are now stable and expected to be OK, with three requiring surgery after the shooting, according to Lubus.
