Aiken County Childcare Worker Faces Two Child Cruelty Charges

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. () – An employee at a daycare in Aiken County was taken into custody for allegedly not feeding her own child and causing injury to another child’s elbow.

On June 11th, an officer from Aiken Public Safety went to the Sunshine House on S. Centennial Ave. following a report concerning an employee mistreating her own daughter.

According to reports, Raven Tyler was distributing food to the children but failed to provide her own daughter with a meal. As a result, the child reportedly started to eat food from the floor.

A witness said that was when Tyler jerked her daughter by the arm, lifting the child off the floor.

In another report, on the same day, two ADPS officers spoke with another parent whose child was in Tyler’s care at the Sunshine house.

The employee stated that she received a call to collect her son from the daycare due to behavioral concerns. Upon picking him up, she observed that he was not using his left arm. After consulting a doctor, it was confirmed that her son had a dislocated elbow.

When officers reviewed surveillance video, it showed Tyler pick up the boy by his left arm and allegedly drag him across the room to a chair.

Raven Tyler is charged with two counts of Cruelty to Children. She remains in the Aiken County Jail.
