A teenager is appealing for help after he was glassed in the face outside a party in Perth.

Bailey Carr and his family are desperate for answers as police hunt for the person who threw a glass lampshade through an open car window, injuring the then 17-year-old and his friend.

The nightmare end to the night out in Wattle Grove left Mr Carr with slashes across his face and glass lodged in his eyes.

“My ears were really ringing, really loud, and I felt like a burning sensation on my face, like my face was on fire,” he told 9News.

A group was walking along Magma Road in the early hours of Sunday, July 13, when Mr Carr and his friends drove past after leaving a party.

Someone threw a glass lampshade into the car, where it shattered.

“I reached out and touched my face, and there was just a pool of blood,” Mr Carr said.

“My mate in the passenger seat got cut in the arm, and yeah he pulled the glass out and it was squirting blood everywhere.”

The young apprentice was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where doctors worked for six hours in emergency surgery.

“(They said) your son is going to lose his eyeball,” mother Kelly Carr said.

“So that was horrific to hear that news, so thankfully they were able to do the surgery and keep everything together.”

Mr Carr spent four days in hospital, including his 18th birthday.

The promising footy player’s vision is improving but doctors warn it may never return to normal.

“Dealing with it has its days, some days I don’t want to go out,” Mr Carr said.

“I’m not allowed to play my last season of junior footy, which I’ve played since I was little, so yeah that was pretty bad to hear.”

Mr Carr has a long recovery ahead. His family hope speaking out will help prompt someone with information to come forward.

Police are still trying to find the person responsible.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
