Police in Kentucky are searching for a suspect who shot a woman dead at a school bus stop.

The incident occurred at about 8 a.m. on Wednesday, as reported by the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD). They mentioned on their Facebook page that a suspect had been apprehended, but after conducting an interview and analyzing more footage, they concluded that although the individual was present, they did not fire the weapon.

The victim was identified by her family as Redaja Williams, 23, WLKY reported.

Police posted two pictures of someone in a red sweatshirt and dark sweatpants with dark shoes that investigators are looking to speak to.

The child the woman was with was not injured. Several children were at the bus stop and witnessed the deadly shooting, WDRB reported.

LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey expressed, “It is unacceptable that individuals who are simply trying to attend school must fear for their safety,” according to the TV station.

A spokesperson for the department informed Fox News Digital, “The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will disclose the victim’s name once the next of kin have been adequately notified.”
