SAVANNAH, Ga. () — On Thursday, the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) issued a statement to dispel rumors about a weapon being present at Jenkins High School, which had prompted a precautionary lockdown.

The school was placed on a lockdown out of precaution after a call was received claiming a student was walking around with a weapon.

Campus Police conducted a search and deemed the threat was not credible.

SCCPSS emphasized, “Please be assured that our school personnel and campus police take these matters with utmost seriousness. The incident last week was managed similarly, and any student who poses a threat to a school or brings unauthorized items onto school property will face the repercussions outlined in our Student Code of Conduct, as well as possible additional actions from law enforcement.”

SCCPSS confirmed there is no evidence of a threat against Jenkins High School. They encourage students and staff to report any unusual activities or concerns they might observe.
