The man has since been charged with one count of using internet to procure child under 16 and was released on strict bail conditions.

He is due to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on September 10.

Queensland Police detective acting inspector Cameron Burke said arrests of this nature highlighted the risks posed to children by online predators.

Burke stressed the importance of parents and caregivers knowing which apps, settings, and platforms their children are engaging with, and encouraged them to closely monitor their online activities.

“Ensuring the safety of children is our top priority. If you notice any suspicious or inappropriate behavior towards a child online, please report it immediately,” Burke urged.
