Trump speaks to Ukrainian and NATO leaders after Putin summit reaches no deal to end war

Trump Engages Ukrainian and NATO Leaders Following Unsuccessful Putin Summit on War Resolution

U.S. President Donald Trump had a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following his meeting with Russia’s Vladimir Putin in Alaska, as well as discussions with NATO leaders on Saturday morning, according to the White House.

Trump secured no agreement to end Russia’s war in Ukraine even after rolling out the red carpet for Putin.

Trump mentioned that “there’s no deal until there’s a deal,” after Putin stated that they had reached an “understanding” about Ukraine, advising Europe against disrupting the early progress.

In an interview with Fox News Channel before leaving Alaska, Trump emphasized that the responsibility might primarily rest with Zelenskyy “to get it done,” while noting that European nations would also play a role in the process.

During his return flight to Washington, Trump did not speak to the press. Upon landing, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt informed reporters that Trump was engaging in calls with NATO leaders after an extended conversation with Zelenskyy.

There was no immediate comment Saturday from Zelenskyy or from European leaders.
