MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A fatal single-car accident occurred early Saturday in Marion County, resulting in the death of an Ocala man and the arrest of a Belleview woman, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on State Road 35 near SE 102 Place Road, troopers said.

The FHP crash report details that the 28-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a sedan, with the 27-year-old man as her passenger, traveling south along S.R. 35.

The report indicates that the driver did not successfully navigate a right curve, leading the sedan off the roadway and onto the west grass shoulder while it was rotating.

Troopers suspect that the woman was wearing her seat belt during the crash, while the man was not. The sedan collided with a wooden fence and then a large tree, causing the man’s ejection, according to the report. He was found on the west shoulder and later declared dead at the hospital.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the crash and was later arrested to face a charge of DUI manslaughter, troopers said.
