US Postal Service reveals Jimmy Carter forever stamp

PLAINS, Ga. () — The U.S. Postal Service is set to commemorate former President Jimmy Carter with a forever stamp, with the artwork being unveiled this Saturday.

Available on Oct. 1 in Atlanta, the stamp coincides with what would have been the former President’s 101st birthday. He passed away on Dec. 29, 2024, at the age of 100.

The unveiling took place at the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park in Plains, attended by representatives from the Friends of Jimmy Carter, the National Park Service, and the U.S. Postal Service.

Peter Pastre, vice president of government relations and public policy for the Postal Service, expressed his honor in participating. “The stamp program highlights the best of American culture, places, and people, and former President Jimmy Carter is certainly a deserving honoree. Through his quiet, thoughtful dedication, both as President and in his subsequent endeavors, Jimmy Carter epitomized the values and achievements that personify the best of America.”

Kim Carter Fuller, managing director of the Friends of Jimmy Carter, shared, “We are deeply honored to participate in revealing President Carter’s Forever stamp. Having witnessed his life and legacy firsthand, today’s unveiling allows us and the world to share his enduring contributions with others every day.”

Inaugurated as the 39th president on Jan. 20, 1977, Carter transitioned post-presidency into a renowned advocate for peace, human rights, and global social and economic advancement.

In 1982, he partnered with Emory University to establish the Carter Center, which advances democracy, monitors elections, mediates disputes and works to prevent tropical diseases in the world’s poorest nations. In recognition of his efforts, he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
