Alert Issued for Missing Infant from Dixie County, Florida

DIXIE COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued a Missing Child Alert on Saturday evening for a baby last seen in Dixie County.

Officials said that 2-month-old Laya Strain was last seen in the area of the 300 block of Northeast 293rd Ave. in Old Town.

The baby, who was last seen wearing a pink one piece outfit, may be in the company of 36-year-old Sara Strain, according to the FDLE.

Officials did not state the relation between the woman and the baby.

Laya Strain is described as described as being 1 foot 11 inches tall, weighing 12 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

According to the FDLE, Sara Strain may have traveled to Gilchrist County.

Officials said that “due to an ongoing investigation, this case has been upgraded to a Missing Child Alert.”
