Urbana Police, Crime Stoppers seeking tips on gas station robbery

The Urbana Police Department is seeking assistance from Crime Stoppers to crack a robbery case that took place at a gas station last week.

The incident happened on the morning of August 11 at the crossroads of Green Street and Lincoln Avenue. Authorities reported that at 12:40 a.m., a man entered the Circle K located at this junction and demanded cash from the register, pretending to have a firearm by keeping a hand in his pocket.

The clerk complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money. He left the gas station heading southwest.

The suspect is identified as a Black male of slim build, with his age being undisclosed. He was dressed in a black hoodie, a black mask, gray sweatpants, white socks, and dark-colored slides featuring white stripes on top.

Those with additional information about this incident, such as the suspect’s identity, are encouraged to provide their tips to Crime Stoppers. Tips can remain anonymous and can be submitted by calling 217-373-8477, visiting the Crime Stoppers website, or through the P3 Tips app.

If a tip results in an arrest, Crime Stoppers will reward the tipster with $2,500 in cash.
