CHICAGO (WLS) — New information has emerged concerning the assault allegations against the Chicago police officer who, according to investigators, accidentally shot and killed his partner, CPD Officer Krystal Rivera, during their response to a call.

That officer is now accused of punching a female off-duty officer.

But he claims that he was the victim in the alleged assault outside a Wicker Park bar last week.

According to a police report acquired by the ABC7 I-Team, the officer, now stripped of his police powers, reported that the off-duty female officer was recording him with a cell phone inside the DSTRKT Bar and Grille.

The male officer told police that he went to confront the woman, saying he felt he was being harassed.

That is when the accused officer says he was punched by his girlfriend’s mother.

ABC7 is not naming any of the officers involved because they are not charged with any crimes.

In a response to the I-Team, the officer’s lawyer says he was stripped of his police powers “improperly.”
