METTER, Ga. () — A man aged 48 has been charged in connection with a Candler County cold case that dates back over 14 years, as announced by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) on Monday.
On December 10, 2010, the GBI was invited to help the Candler County Sheriff’s Office in probing a death after a body was discovered in a rural area off Jones Road.
CCSO officers located a car close to the site that belonged to 21-year-old Harrison Wayne Olliff, a spokesperson for the GBI stated. Olliff had been reported missing to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office on November 25, 2010.
His body was discovered near his vehicle, a GBI spokesperson said.
Although the investigation was stalled for about 14 years, the GBI recently acquired fresh information that allegedly implicated 48-year-old Paul Thomas Reinberg.
Following a decision by the GBI and the Middle Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office to put the matter before a Grand Jury, the Candler County Grand Jury formally charged Reinburg for his suspected role in the murder of Olliff.
His exact charges were not immediately available.
Reinberg is reportedly in the custody of the Georgia Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.
