NASSAU COUNTY, Fla — The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office reported that earlier this month, unauthorized accounts were created using the victim’s identity and photos. The child’s parents informed deputies that they had implemented parental controls to restrict social media access. Although TikTok eventually took down the fraudulent account, another one with identical details surfaced the following day.
Upon receiving a tip, deputies questioned a suspect from Yulee Middle School. A forensic examination of the teenager’s phone uncovered images associated with the controversial accounts, as per the sheriff’s office.
On Tuesday, the victim spoke publicly about the impact of the threats.
“It made me feel hurt over the fact that, my name was being used in such a horrible way and it made me feel so sad and unsafe and I felt like I couldn’t even leave my own home,” Aaron expressed.
The suspect has been charged with electronic threats to kill and aggravated stalking, both felonies.
It will be up to the district attorney’s office whether the teen will be tried as an adult.
