GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gainesville Police Department has reported the arrest of three men from Ocala in relation to the Easter (April 20, 2025) shooting at TB McPherson Center, which resulted in the death of 20-year-old Ontaria Baisden. The suspects are presently detained at the Marion County Jail.

Kaniel Jeremy Paul Edwards, age 21, faces charges including first-degree premeditated homicide, attempted first-degree homicide, and illicitly concealing a firearm. Edwards was initially arrested in 2022 for assaulting medical personnel and subsequently entered a pre-trial intervention agreement. Upon breaching the agreement’s conditions, he was deemed guilty and received a 12-month probation sentence. After further probation violations, he was sentenced on March 24, 2025, to spend 49 days in jail, with credit for time already served.

Gabriel Nehemiah Frazier, 20, is charged with second-degree homicide, attempted first-degree homicide, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. At 15 in 2019, he was charged as an adult for strongarm robbery. In 2022, he was sentenced to three years of state imprisonment for strongarm robbery, attempted strongarm robbery, possessing a firearm while being an adjudicated delinquent, and unlawfully carrying a concealed firearm, and he was discharged in September 2023. In 2024, he faced arrest for resisting an officer without violence, resulting in three months of probation, which he completed successfully. Weeks after finishing probation, he was arrested for drug trafficking, but those charges were dropped. On August 11, 2025, he was arrested in Marion County for dual counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of under 20 grams of marijuana; he was released on a $10,500 bail.

Jarrett Kendall Jones, Jr., 19, is charged with second-degree felony murder, attempted first-degree homicide, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Previously, at 17, he faced charges as an adult for resisting an officer without violence and possessing a firearm while adjudicated delinquent, receiving a youthful offender sentence of 95 days with time served and three years of probation. In May 2025, he was re-arrested for probation violation after a February arrest in Georgia for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and a missed April court appearance regarding that case. On July 8, 2025, his probation was revoked, and he was sentenced to 200 days in jail with credit for 129 days served.

All of the probable cause documents for the Alachua County cases are currently sealed.
