BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — Various drugs, including meth and pills, were seized by police during a welfare check in Bristol, Virginia on Tuesday.

The Bristol, Virginia Police Department (BVPD) issued a news release indicating that officers conducted a welfare check at a residence on Catherine Street.

The BVPD noted, “Officers were permitted entry into the residence upon arrival. As officers were exiting, they overheard a resident shouting at someone else about the officers’ visit, claiming she had ‘two ounces of drugs’ in the house.”

A search of the home reportedly uncovered two ounces of methamphetamine, Schedule IV pills, 76 unidentified pills, and various drug paraphernalia.

Andrea Gross, 36, of Bristol, Virginia and Amanda Artusi, 32, of Glade Spring, were arrested and charged with the following:

  • Gross
    • Possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I or II drug
    • Possession of a Schedule IV substance
  • Artusi
    • Possession of a Schedule I or II drug

As of Thursday, Gross is detained at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail with a bond set at $5,000. Artusi was released on an unsecured bond, per the BVPD.
