A man will front court today after being charged with possessing “violent extremist” and child abuse material.

The Australian Federal Police reported they obtained intelligence concerning a 25-year-old man’s suspected involvement in a meeting of right-wing extremists in Marsfield, located in Sydney’s lower north shore.

Police allege an investigation uncovered videos of terrorist attacks and videos of minors performing sexual acts.

They allege the man is a member of several online chat groups where illegal content was discussed and disseminated.

“Owning this material is not without victims and only encourages further distribution and creation of more damaging content,” stated AFP Detective Superintendent Matthew Byles.

“Everything online can be traced, and you cannot remain anonymous behind your computer screens forever.”

Detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Holsworthy and arrested the 25-year-old.

He was charged with possessing violent extremist material and possessing child abuse material.
