The FBI is executing a search at the residence of John Bolton, who was the national security adviser under President Donald Trump during his initial administration, as confirmed by two individuals familiar with the situation.

This operation is being conducted at Bolton’s home in the Washington D.C. area, focusing on classified materials, as indicated by sources. Every FBI search must be authorized by a court search warrant.

Bolton has not been arrested or charged with any crime, according to the Associated Press. FBI Director Kash Patel appeared to indirectly confirm the search on social media on Friday morning, stating, “NO ONE is above the law…FBI agents on mission.”

The FBI said it was “conducting court authorized activity in the area” and that there was no public safety threat.

Bolton worked for Trump from 2018 to 2019. In 2020, Bolton released a memoir about his time as an adviser titled, “The Room Where It Happened.”

During Trump’s inaugural administration, there were claims by officials that Bolton’s book revealed classified information. Nevertheless, the Department of Justice subsequently dismissed both a lawsuit and a grand jury inquiry concerning the book the subsequent year.

Bolton is a national security contributor.

This is a developing story, please check back for updates.
