The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said foul play is suspected in the person’s death.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Early Friday morning, a SWAT team discovered a deceased individual inside a residence located in Jacksonville’s Hogans Creek area, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sgt. Robbie Henson said around 3 a.m., officers responded to a home in the 800 block of West 18th Street regarding an “altercation.”

When they arrived, Henson said officers were told that a “possible suspect” in the altercation was inside the home and “maybe a witness.”

According to Henson, officers then surrounded the home, while a SWAT team responded.

The SWAT team, upon arriving at the location, made multiple efforts to have everyone inside the house come out, explained Henson. In the process of securing the premises, the deceased individual was found, Henson noted.

“At this time, we don’t know the circumstances of the incident or the relationships of those involved,” Henson said.

JSO suspects foul play in the person’s death. Henson said they suffered injuries in the altercation.

While the identity of the person remains undisclosed, Henson confirmed to First Coast News that the individual was an adult. However, the cause of the victim’s injuries is still unclear.

Henson said JSO spoke to several individuals who may have information on the incident, which is being actively investigated.

Anyone with information on the incident and/or person’s death is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500.
