It’s unclear how many tubs were recalled, but Blue Bell Creameries says it’s a “limited quantity.”

SAN FRANCISCO — Blue Bell Ice Cream recalled some half gallon tubs of ice cream mistakenly packaged in the incorrect container Friday.

The containers in question contain Moo-llennium Crunch, a vanilla ice cream featuring a mix of chocolate chunks, caramel chunks, roasted pecans, chopped almonds, and walnut pieces. However, they have been mistakenly packaged into chocolate chip cookie dough containers. The lid correctly states Moo-llennium Crunch and should bear the code 061027524.

While there have been no reported illnesses due to this labeling error, it’s important to note that tree nut allergies are a common and serious food allergy, often leading to acute, potentially life-threatening reactions, as outlined by the National Library of Medicine.

The exact number of tubs recalled has not been specified, but Blue Bell has described it as a “limited quantity.” The error was discovered by a Blue Bell employee during a routine restocking at a store.

The affected half-gallon containers were distributed to stores located in Alabama, Arkansas, the Florida Panhandle, Northwest Georgia, Southern Indiana, Southern Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Southwest Virginia.

Customers who purchased the item can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund, according to the recall.
