LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The father of a professional NBA player is now facing charges in connection to a stabbing incident in Las Vegas that allegedly stemmed from an argument over a parking spot, as reported by the 8 News Now Investigators.

Authorities from the Las Vegas Metro police apprehended Quenton Marselles Brown, 57, on Wednesday evening following an incident at the All American Sports Park located in the western valley. Brown is the father of Jaylen Brown, a key player for the Boston Celtics who contributed to the team’s championship win in 2024.

The stabbing occurred around 5:45 p.m. during a fight at the park, which is located on South Buffalo Drive near West Charleston Boulevard.

Eyewitnesses informed the police that the confrontation arose from a “door ding,” and as per documents obtained by the 8 News Now Investigators, Brown is accused of stabbing the victim multiple times.

According to the victim’s girlfriend, Brown parked adjacent to them and allegedly “hit [their] driver’s door with the front passenger door of [his] SUV,” the documents reveal. “[The victim] exited to inspect for any potential damage, and [Brown] became confrontational without [the victim] having said anything. Brown reportedly said it was merely a bump, insulted [the victim], and as the man walked away, [the victim] hit a side mirror on the SUV.”

Police detained Brown near U.S. 95 and Decatur Boulevard after the stabbing, they said. Police did not recover the weapon.

The documents further describe that “Brown had abrasions on his knees, and there was bleeding on his face,” adding that “he spontaneously mentioned that this entire situation was due to a door ding without being prompted by patrol officers.”

Police took Brown, a former heavyweight boxer, to the Clark County Detention Center, where he faces one count of attempted murder.

Medical personnel took the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. Police said he needed surgery.

Brown was previously arrested in Henderson in 2016 on a charge of battery resulting in substantial bodily harm, police said.

Brown was denied bail and was scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday afternoon.
