Inconsistent Statements Cloud Search for California Baby Emmanuel Haro, Foul Play Not Ruled Out

A California couple is behind bars as the search for missing 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro continues.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that Rebecca and Jake Haro were taken into custody on Friday, suspected of murder. This followed an investigation at their Cabazon home.

“Today, detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail and Specialized Enforcement Division apprehended Jake and Rebecca Haro at their Cabazon residence on charges of PC 187 – Murder,” SBSD announced on X.

“Investigators will continue their search for seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro.”

As reported earlier by CrimeOnline, Rebecca Haro asserted that she awoke to find Emmanuel missing after allegedly being knocked unconscious on August 14.

She said she went to a Big 5 Sporting Goods in Yucaipa, because her older son needed a mouth guard.

Rebecca Haro informed police that she took Emmanuel with her, while her husband and two other children remained in the local park, where their son was attending football practice.

She said while in the store parking lot changing the baby’s diaper, an unknown person approached her and said, “Hola,” before knocking her out.

The sheriff’s office revealed in a press release that during discussions with Rebecca Haro, they observed her statements to be inconsistent. Consequently, she secured legal representation.

“Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview,” the sheriff’s office said.

SBCSD said in an August 20 release that Jake Haro has also retained an attorney.

According to FOX 11 Los Angeles, Jake Haro’s lawyer, Vincent Hughes, claimed that there was a possible sighting of Emmanuel in Bakersfield.

Police have not confirmed the information, while the attorney said investigators didn’t follow up.”

“It’s very clear that their own community is going against them without any definitive evidence that they did anything wrong,” Hughes said.

Meanwhile, KTLA reports that detective are investigating a possible video showing Rebecca Haro with the black eye as early as August 3, and a claim that Emmanuel was not seen at the park with the family on the day in question.

The couple’s 2-year-old child has been removed from their custody, and the child’s grandmother said that police brought cadaver dogs to the family’s home.
