The first shooting took place at about 10:09 p.m.in the 300-block of South Maplewood Avenue.

According to law enforcement, two men were outside when a male suspect approached them on foot, drew a firearm, and opened fire. The victims were taken to medical facilities, where they succumbed to their injuries.

The men have been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as 38-year-old Deandre Russell and 28-year-old Nurrie Foy.

The second shooting took place at about 10:47 p.m. in the 3900-block of West Gladys Avenue.

Police said a 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were outside when a male suspect took out a gun and fired in their direction.

The woman was shot multiple times and transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

She was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as 27-year-old Tia Bell.

Another individual was struck by several bullets and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where his condition was reported as stable. Authorities later confirmed a third victim, a 26-year-old man, who sought medical attention on his own for a grazed injury related to the incident.

This week, Mayor Brandon Johnson and Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling engaged with residents on the West Side to discuss the surge in gun-related violence.

No one is in custody in connection with either shooting and Area Four detectives are investigating.
