CBP agents foil carjacking suspect in Washington DC as Trump makes city 'safe and beautiful'

Agents from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) thwarted a carjacking in Washington, D.C., on Monday as part of the Trump administration’s intensified efforts to combat crime in the capital.

The CBP agents were making the city “safe and beautiful” when they received a call about a carjacking in progress.

“Agents immediately responded to the area and stopped the fleeing suspect,” a CBP post on X stated.

“What does that mean? They can’t be used for violence or to take lives,” U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro remarked on Monday during “Fox & Friends,” discussing the confiscation of weapons. “Additionally, we now have a government where residents of D.C. feel more secure. They recognize there is a president committed to their protection.”

“D.C. ranked among the most dangerous cities globally, and if it weren’t for President Trump’s intervention and collaboration with federal partners… we now have a cohesive team of officers and law enforcement entering high-crime areas and creating change,” she continued.

The initiative quietly started on Aug. 7 with the formation of the “Making D.C. Safe and Beautiful” task force, established by Trump in March via an executive order.

On Aug. 11, Trump intensified the effort by temporarily taking federal control of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) using emergency authorities under the Home Rule Act.
