Erik Menendez parole denial is 'positive': Menendez's sponsor

() The Menendez brothers’ attorney Mark Geragos believes their parole board hearings were “rigged.”

Geragos appeared on “CUOMO” shortly after Erik and Lyle Menendez were denied parole for another three years, at which point they can apply for another hearing.

He suggested that if the pair were not named “Menendez,” they would already be out.

“One of the ironies of this is, for Lyle, his parole commissioner referred to him as a model inmate, but mentioned he broke the rules regarding cellphones,” Geragos explained. “Meanwhile, for Erik, their focus was on incidents that occurred over a decade ago, rather than his actions in the past 10 years.

“The irony is, you’re about to play clips that were leaked, and they have now admitted, because I confronted them about it. The California Department of Corrections has confessed that they broke the rules, all while accusing the brothers of doing the same.”

Geragos further criticized the decision, labeling it as “rich,” and announced plans to bring the matter to California Governor Gavin Newsom and a superior court judge to seek a reversal of the ruling.

“Part of the reason I’m so frustrated with the parole board is that they leaked this tape right before the family was scheduled to testify for Lyle … with several family members expressing, ‘Hey, you have traumatized us.’

“… We can’t have any support people present to listen to this proceeding or when we testify, and meanwhile, you leaked the tape, making it go viral before our testimony. It’s frankly outrageous.”
