JSO: Son of woman fatally stabbed on Peach Drive arrested

Hector Munoz-Ochoa, aged 24, is facing second-degree murder charges related to the death of his 55-year-old mother, Lilian Ochoa-Menjivar.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man has been taken into custody and charged with the murder of his mother, who was found fatally stabbed at her Jacksonville residence on Saturday. This was confirmed by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.

Hector Munoz-Ochoa, 24, is charged with second-degree murder in connection to the murder of his mother, Lilian Ochoa-Menjivar, who was 55 years old.

On Sunday, around 3 p.m., officers were dispatched to a home on Peach Drive to assist the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. Upon arrival, they discovered Ochoa-Menjivar suffering from multiple stab wounds. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the location.

On Tuesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office revealed that Munoz-Ochoa was “quickly” identified as the murder suspect, although they did not disclose the specific evidence or methods used to connect him to the crime.

The arrest report for Munoz-Ochoa states that he was subjected to the Baker Act in 2020 for “threatening self-harm with a knife.” Furthermore, in 2022, he was admitted to a state hospital where he was diagnosed with malingering, schizophrenia, and moderate cannabis use disorder.

According to jail records, Munoz-Ochoa will make his first appearance in court on Sept. 16 at 9 a.m. for his arraignment.
