Rebecca Haro's 'stupid' jailhouse interview will 'bite' her: Former DA

Matt Murphy, a former senior deputy district attorney from Orange County, California, thinks that Rebecca Haro, the mother of missing infant Emmanuel Haro, will likely regret participating in a jailhouse interview.

Rebecca and her husband, Jake Haro, faced murder charges on Tuesday following the disappearance of their 7-month-old son. Authorities now suspect that Emmanuel Haro is deceased, with his disappearance being reported on August 14.

Murphy also predicts that Rebecca will eventually turn against her husband, despite their current unified stance, as he collaborates with detectives in searching for Emmanuel.

“That interview is going to haunt her,” Murphy expressed to “Banfield” on Tuesday. “At some point, she’s going to point the finger at him. I’m certain of it, absolutely certain.”

“There’s likely a lawyer being assigned to her case today who is frustrated over that ill-advised jailhouse interview that will undoubtedly backfire,” Murphy stated.

“Some poor lawyer’s going to have to try to dig her out of that mess, and I don’t think they’re going to succeed.”

From behind bars, Rebecca Haro spoke to local reporters, showing support for her husband and expressing her desire to join the search for baby Emmanuel. Despite the body not being located yet, Murphy mentioned the parents could still be convicted.

“One of the biggest misconceptions out there is that you cannot prosecute a case without a body,” Murphy said.

“Juries never want to give the benefit to the bad guy, to the killer, of successfully getting rid of human remains, especially when you’re talking about a little boy like this,” he added.
